How to Beat the Fresno Heat This Summer

The summers in Fresno can be extremely brutal with temperatures reaching up to 115 and 116 degrees. If you don’t have a pool or air conditioner, it can be hard to stay cool in the heat. Luckily, there are some fun free or low-cost options around town to help cool you off and beat the Fresno heat this summer.

Cooling Centers

During the summer, when temperatures get over 105 degrees, there are four free cooling centers that open in Fresno:

Ted C. Wills Community Center*

Frank H. Ball Neighborhood Center*
760 Mayor Avenue, Fresno, CA 93706

Pinedale Community Center*
7170 N. San Pablo, Pinedale, CA 93650

FAX buses will be offering free transportation to any of these locations throughout the summer.

Public Pools

If you don’t have a pool of your own, you can still enjoy swimming for free this summer at any of these public pools when temperatures rise above 105 degrees:

Mary Ella Brown Pool – 1350 E. Annadale (Elm & Annadale)
Recreation swimming open to the public
Monday-Sunday, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Bus Route 32

Mosqueda Pool – 4670 E. Butler (Maple & Butler)
Recreation swimming open to the public
Monday-Sunday, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Bus Route 26 & 28

FAX buses will be offering free transportation to any of these pools throughout the summer.

Splash Parks

Fresno is home to many public splash parks that you can enjoy with your little ones to stay cool this summer. Here are a few splash parks to check out:

Todd Beamer Park

About: Todd Beamer Park is one of the best splash parks in Fresno because it has shooting water spouts, buckets of water that pour on top of people, as well as arches with water shooting out and spinning water disks.

Dickey Playground

About: Dickey Playground has interactive water spouts that shoot up into the air for kids to play around in. The park was recently renovated in 2013.
Location: 50 North Calaveras Street, Fresno

Inspiration Park

About: Inspiration Park has shooting water spouts and features a giant bucket that fills with water to spill all over the kids.
Location: 5770 West Gettysburg Ave, Fresno
