Beer for the Meeples in Clovis Celebrates 1 Year of Business

What if we told you that you could play all of your favorite board games while enjoying a local craft beer and meeting new friends all at the same time? Now you can! Beer for the Meeples in Clovis is a board game cafe with over 400 different board games and card games you can enjoy. They recently celebrated their one year anniversary on May 13th, 2023.

What is a Meeple?

Meeples are the tokens or game pieces that are meant to represent the player within a board game. They come in many shapes and sizes, and they’re usually themed for the game that they’re used in. The term was coined by Klaus-Jürgen Wrede who created the game Carcassonne.

What Kinds of Games Does Beer for the Meeples Have?

Beer for the Meeples has classic board games like Monopoly to party games like Cards Against Humanity to board game lover’s favorites like Ticket to Ride and so much more! There is something for everyone in the family, and the games range from two player and up. The staff at Beer for the Meeples also regularly does what they call “Teach and Plays” where they will teach you how to play a game.

What Kind of Beer Do They Have?

Beer for the Meeples features a rotating selection of craft beer all from local breweries. Some of their current featured breweries are Crow & Wolf Brewing Co., House of Pendragon, and Incinerati Brewing Co.. They also have a non-alcoholic menu available with teas, lemonades, and soft drinks, as well as snacks and bakery items.

Do I Need a Reservation?

While you usually don’t need a reservation, the staff recommends that you save your seat on busier days like Fridays and Saturdays. You can make Stay and play reservations here.

Can I Bring My Own Games?

If you just want to hang out and grab a local beer, you can also bring your own board games in to play. You can even bring tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons or Warhammer with your own books and minis!

What Else Can I Do There?

Beer for the Meeples always has lots of fun events going on like Dungeons and Dragons night, and they even have a Board Game League you can join! Following their one year anniversary, they also just launched their monthly Stay & Play Pass that allows you to come in and play games whenever you’d like to during the month.

Sundays are Family Day where you can bring in up to two kids per adult, and play games with your whole family. Tuesday through Saturday, Beer for the Meeples is for adults 21 and over.

Hours and Pricing

Beer for the Meeples is open from: Tuesday through Thursday 4PM to 11PM, Friday 4PM to 1AM, Saturday 12PM to 1AM, Sunday 12PM to 11PM, and closed on Mondays. Stay & Play pricing is $7 per person Tuesday through Thursday, and $9 per person Friday through Sunday.
